Polar's Pearl is a 10! Highest Scoring Mare in American Trakehner Association

Here is a photo of Polar's Pearl, the highest scoring mare in the American Trakehner Association as of September 2003. Brad Kerbs, vice president of the ATA and lead jurist on a panel of four, turned to the spectators and just raved about this young mare, age 3, bred and owned by Dynamite rep Gretchen Lasater of Pauma Valley, CA. He gave the mare his first 10 ever in overall impression and gave Pearl the designation Model Mare, a category for young ATA mares with the highest promise for sport and for contribution to the gene pool. Kerbs was effusive in talking about the quality of the mare by Horizon out of Polar Heigh, a daughter of the stallion Schubert. He also complimented Gretchen publicly for the turnout and overall glow of the horses she presented for evaluation -- not once, but twice.

OUR SUCCESS STORIES

Doodlebug Before DYNAMITE - February, 2006

Doodlebug's Story

Doodlebug came to us in December of 2005 as a pasture pal. We think she is a Morgan pony, but we have no way to verify it. She has been overweight with a cresty neck ever since we got her. We have never really been sure of her circumstances but she was obviously mistreated since it took 6 months for her to even come into an open stall to eat. She still has issues trusting humans in any form although she will allow herself to be caught and she loves attention. She had foundered before we got her and foundered severely again in the Spring of 2006. Thanks to our vet, Dr. Leslie Kinchen, and our farrier/trimmer, Willie Taylor, she survived.

We changed her diet to chopped timothy, black oil sunflower seeds and free choice hay, and in February, 2007, we started her on the DYNAMITE program. Doodle continues to be a real blessing to us - her spirit and her will to live are a shining light to everyone she meets.

6/08 Update: Doodle continues to do so well no one can believe it. She's been barefoot and sound for almost two years now, and she has that old spark in her eyes again! Now, if we can find someone with a cute buggy, we might create a job for her!

Doodle - June, 2007

Bucky - February, 2007

Bucky - October, 2008

Bucky's Story

Bucky is a 14 year old Quarab gelding. He has graced my life for 4 & 1/2 years now. His problem - he's an air fern! He could literally live on air. Unfortunately, his belly is huge! We feed him the same grain mixture as Doodlebug - only a small scoop twice a day. Of course, all of our animals are out 24/7. It's rather frustrating since he's not fat on the scale - he has no indentation in his spine nor fatty deposits anywhere - he just has a belly.

Bucky also has very itchy skin. He itches his head on everything! He is otherwise a very easy keeper. Can DYNAMITE help him regain his boyish figure and ease his constant itching? We'll see!

6/08 Update: Bucky continues to be healthy as a horse - pun intended. He is always well & happy and his muscle tests are always negative. He's lost about 100 lbs. since starting DYNAMITE. We have about 10 tasks left to assess before we pass Parelli Level 2! Go, Buckaroo!

4/09 Update: Level 2 Parelli passed! Go, Buckaroo!

Radar - December, 2006

Radar's Story

Radar, the Donkey! We love Radar! We got him from the same friend who gave us Doodlebug. He had been kept by a family as a pasture pet - they actually would let him come along on trail rides loose! Radar's feet are pretty dry and look awful - very cracked. Unfortunately, we can't convince Radar to stop kicking long enough to trim them so we'll just put our best natural horsemanship practices to work and take the time it takes.

Radar and Bucky love to play and chase each other and we love to watch them!

6/08 Update: Radar is doing great! He's healthy and into everything. He continues to be a joy to be around and we call him the "Yoda" of the barn.
